Summer Camp

Our goal at the Y is to provide each and every child a Summer Camp experience full of lasting memories, friendship, excitement, and opportunity for growth. No matter what your child enjoys, whether it’s fun activities, games, or sports, chances are we have the right program for them. With the help of our well-trained staff, your child will spend their summer days developing skills and boosting their self-esteem through a variety of safe, structured activities.

Summer Camp’s philosophy supports participation in a wide range of positive recreational activities. Through these activities, children will have the opportunity to develop new skills and talents, make new friends, explore new interests, and create new experiences in a safe and fun environment.

The Newport County YMCA is proud to have received American Camp Association Accreditation. ACA Accredited camps meet up to 300 standards for health, safety, and program quality. Visit the ACA website at www.acacamps.org for more information.

READING REAPS REWARDS PROGRAM

We are excited to announce that the Newport County YMCA is partnering with Newport Partnership for Families for the second year of the Reading Reaps Rewards (R3) program. The R3 program helps students maintain literacy skills through interactive, engaging, and educational activities. During the six-weeks, students benefit from daily literacy instruction provided by certified teachers. The R3 program is a great learning opportunity for Newport and Middletown elementary-aged children, grades 1-4.

The R3 program is grant funded through United Way RI and the Van Beuren Charitable Foundation. Due to this generous funding, the R3 program is FREE for families. It is important to note that this program is a 6-week commitment; enrolled children must attend for the 30-day duration. The hours are 8:30am-4:30pm. Children who attend YMCA programs year-round are encouraged to apply. The R3 program is limited to 18 children. Participants will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.
