Girls Gymnastics Team

YMCA Gymnastics Team Ages 4-18

The Newport County Y team is a branch of USA gymnastics. Y team gymnasts will compete in YMCA competitions and follow the USAG code of points and routines for girl’s level 2-9, as well as Xcel Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. Depending on your gymnast’s competitive level workout times will range from 3 to 18 hours per week. Y team members are eligible to qualify for YMCA States, Regionals and Nationals. You will be required to compete in at least 2 competitions to participate in these practices. We do travel throughout New England; however, this is not required. There are three home meets each season. All competitive team gymnasts must have a current YMCA membership.

Girls USAG Team Ages 6-18

The Newport County YMCA’s USAG team requires complete commitment and dedication for both training and competitions. USAG team is girl’s level 2-9, as well as Xcel Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. This is a year-round commitment. You will be required to participate in at least 2 USAG meets we attend throughout the season. You may also participate in YMCA meets. To qualify for YMCA states, regionals and Nationals you must participate in at least 2 YMCA sponsored competitions. Gymnasts can also qualify to USAG states and Regionals at this level. Practice times vary from 6 to 18 hours per week.

Boys USAG Team Ages 6-18

The Newport County YMCA’s USAG team requires complete commitment and dedication for both training and competitions. USAG Boys team is level 3-9. This is a year-round commitment. You will be required to participate in at least 2 USAG meets we attend throughout the season. Gymnasts can also qualify to USAG states and Regionals at this level. Practice times vary from 6 to 18 hours per week.

Girls Pre-Team

For those gymnasts who have mastered the advanced level on all four women’s events. Girls will continue to learn progressions, as well as begin working sequences of skills needed for USAG level 2/3 routines. Strength and flexibility will also be emphasized.
