Youth Programs

The YMCA offers an environment that fosters individual growth and success through programs that develop a healthy spirit, mind and body. All our programs are designed to help participants achieve both physical and social goals that are designed to make them stronger, happier and more independent people!

Group Classes

Adapted youth programs


  • Kids Social Swim- *Please note: Kids Social Swim is currently paused due to COVID-19. This program will focus on cooperation and social skills through games in the water. The participant must be able to swim, or an adult needs to be in the water with them. This program is open to participants ages 5 to 14.

Youth Sports/Special Olympics

  • Youth Sports – We encourage our youth of all abilities to register for any youth sports opportunity that they may be interested in. At the Newport County YMCA, we seek to provide an inclusive environment in all of our programs.   • Special Olympics – For nearly a decade, the Newport County YMCA has offered a variety of enriching Special Olympics athletic opportunities. At this present time, please contact Megan DeAscentis at for our most recent virtual and in-person schedule.

Social Events

Teen Social Night- *Please note: Teen Social Night is currently paused due to  COVID019. For teens of all ability levels, ages 13 to 21 years-old. Come swim, play Wii, do sports, jump in the foam pit, bounce house, eat pizza, meet new friends, and reconnect with old friends! This is for teens with and without disabilities!

Individual Fitness Opportunities

Private Swim-30-minutes of individualized instruction focusing on the needs of the participant such as swimming, range of movement, and water safety. This program cost $120 for members and $140 for non-members.

Youth APA One-On-One Fitness– 8 one hour sessions of one-on-one instruction for a specified activity. The activity can vary from gymnastics, sports or strength training. The program is created to meet the needs of the specific child. The cost is $240 for members and $255 for non-members.
