Newport County YMCA Pie Run
Thursday, November 23, 2017
Race starts at 8:30 AM

The Newport County YMCA will host the 32nd Annual Pie Run Thursday, November 23, 2017. This Thanksgiving Day Race starts promptly at 8:30AM. The 5-mile USATF sanctioned road race, and 3-mile non-competitive walk, starts and ends in front of the Newport County YMCA in Middletown. Entrants are asked to bring one non-perishable food item to be contributed to a local food bank. All entrants will receive a shirt. Proceeds support the Newport County YMCA’s Community Support Campaign and local charities.

COSTS IF YOU REGISTER BY 11/9/17
$30 for the 5-mile run
$25 for the 3-mile non-competitive walk

*Registries are guaranteed a shirt

COSTS AFTER 11/10/17
$40 for the 5-mile run
$35 for the 3-mile non-competitive walk

10am Dr. Kathy Veronesi

Dr. Veronesi (Kath) is a longtime educator who began her career working with high school boys who had been placed by the court in a a residential treatment center. From her there she went on to work in the public school system as a special education teacher, diagnostician, and principal in the East Haddam, Cheshire, Plainville and Hebron school districts. She currently works as Superintendent of Schools in Regional School District 13 (Durham and Middlefield). At the heart of her work is her interest in and compassion for all people. A focus on hearing the voice all of people and infusing fun and humor are hallmarks of her leadership.

As one of 8 children, Kath grew up in a household with 10 people and one bathroom which she credits as the singular experience that taught her the most about compromise and conflict resolution.
